Zonde van de economie. De vergeten bijdrage van Jan Ridder (1910-1946) aan het Nederlands economisch denken

Jan Ridder was een veelbelovende econoom van gereformeerde huize die bij het ministerie van Financiën opklom tot thesaurier-generaal. Daarbij was hij voorbestemd om de eerste hoogleraar economie aan de Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam te worden. Zijn plotselinge dood maakte echter dat Jan Ridder in de vergetelheid is geraakt. Dit artikel wil daar verandering in brengen door het nog nauwelijks gedocumenteerde leven en werk van Ridder te beschrijven. Het volgt Ridder in zijn zoektocht naar een christelijke economie, waarbij noties naar voren komen die nog altijd relevant zijn voor hedendaagse makers van economisch beleid.
